15 December- While the weather outside is frightful, the exams remain delightful. Ok, so maybe that's a stretch but Kel did have another good appointment today. The fluid levels were up a bit from last week, the heartbeat is still right where it is supposed to be, and Kels' white blood cell counts are normal. Even more exciting is while last week's technician would only give a 51% suredy of the baby's sex, today's said she is 85% sure its a girl. Good thing cause the pink stuff has started rolling in. Last week we were unable to talk to Kel's specialist who today cleared up some information about Kel's stay in the hospital. The date is set for January 2nd, and she will be admitted to Labor and Delivery, not Antepartum like we originally thought, The purpose for the change is the specialist requesting a much closer eye on Kel and the baby than what the Antepartum unit can provide. This puts Kel more at ease since she will be much more 'in the know" about the situation. While we spoke with the specialist today, he was willing to admit the obstacles we've overcome but reminded us of his (and now our) greatest fear still to come. While Kel and the baby could beat all the odds and get to a good date for delivery, the lung development is still a serious concern. The absence of fluid does not allow the baby to take in the amount of fluid it normally can and that is what develops the lungs. While steroid shots later in the pregnancy help lung maturity, if development has not occurred before then, the steroid does no good. The scariest part is that no one will know until we cut the chord and the baby attempts to breath on its own. Please pray that we continue to beat the odds and give our doctors one more thing to be surprised about.

Kelly and Jeff,

I know you know how much we have to be thankful for. God has shown us his miracles by protecting Kelly from infection and has kept her from labor. Our sweet Caroline Hope Blankenship is growing right on track. We know this is all from God. Kelly you are beautiful, not only because of your beautiful pregnant "glow" but also because of your beautiful spirit through all this. We know God is providing the strength we all need, especially you my strong daughter. We have no reason to doubt that God will continue to show us His miracles. We continue to praise HIM for each day.

Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you HOPE and a future."

God, I send my plea to you to keep protecting sweet Caroline Hope and Kelly and Jeff. Please keep your angels watching over this little babe, your beautiful creation, as she continues to grow strong and healthy. Lord, please use your skilled and loving hands to make her lungs strong and bring her to our family safe and healthy. Give Kelly and Jeff the continued strength they need with so much uncertainty ahead. May each of us walk completely in faith and when the fear overcomes sweet Kel, give her your peace. We praise you for the miracle you continue to work. May this be a testimony to you and your power. We know with you all things are possible.

I've always loved hymns and one of my favorites when I've gone through trials is "'Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus." The words are as follows:
'Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus
Just to take Him at His Word
Just to rest upon His promise
Just to know "Thus saith the Lord.
Jesus, Jesus, How I trust Him!
How I've proved Him o'er and o'er!
Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus!
O for grace to trust Him more!

You guys and your faith are amazing! We will pray for baby Caroline and her lung development and for your faith to continue to stay strong.

i'll "piggy back" on aunt joy's comment with some great worship lyrics too...

"in the chaos and confusion i know You're soverign still. in my moment of weakness you give me grace to do Your will..."

the Lord is still soverign and good and wants us to continue to put all our trust in Him. He is the only one who can take all of our worries, fears, frustrations, and hurt. He is holding us and we will hold baby Caroline soon. as much as we already love that girl, the Lord loves her so much more, we can't even begin to understand.

there is a song by Shane and Shane that says "helpless children are safe in your arms, there is none like you!" i love that. i've written those words on my heart. kel and jeff, i pray that those words will comfort you as well. love you so much!
